| Mercedes Benz Sells the LP Gas OEM Sprinter in Spain |
|
Due to work already carried out with Mercedes Benz Spain (a pioneer manufacturer in the LP Gas market in Spain in both the commercial and industrial sector) to develop the market for LP Gas vans in recent years…they are now active in supplying vehicles in Spain Development of the Autogas Market for Ambulances in Spain: In September 2009, Repsol signed an agreement referring to sectors with the National Federation of Ambulance Companies (ANEA), in collaboration with the vehicle manufacturer, MERCEDES BENZ (in Spain, over 90% of the ambulance fleet belongs to ANEA). Today more that 200 ambulances run on REPSOL AutoGas in Spain, and this means an average consumption of 1.800 tonnes/year. In late 2009 the Mayor of Madrid showed the press 5 new ambulances owned by the public municipal health service (SAMUR) running on AutoGas. The vehicles are MERCEDES BENZ SPRINTERs, and the AutoGas is provided by REPSOL Development of the Minibus LP Gas Market in Spain: Last year ALSA put into service the first 2 Autogas powered vans in their fleet (both models are Mercedes-Benz Sprinter). These 2 units have been the first of many others, as in their plans there is the possibility of expanding the fleet of minibuses powered by this alternative fuel. What’s more, these were the first Autogas-powered minibuses in Spain. Many other companies in the bus sector are becoming interested in this ALSA initiative, and Autogas minibuses are been incorporated to their fleets like Maitours-Iberia (2 units), Grand-Class (8 units), Jiménez Dorado (units), etc. LP Gas Minibuses at the International Bus and Coach Show held last November 2010 in Madrid ALSA participated in our visit to a REPSOL autogas station with their 2 brand new Mercedes Benz autogas mini-coaches at the previous GAIN meeting held in Madrid on Monday 27th September. This was an opportunity for GAIN members to observe the latest technologies (european connectors, multifuel dispensers, "snale" tanks, electronic and remote control level sensors, electronic payment, fidelity cards, etc.) that we are using at REPSOL to include autogas in our product range as a modern and environmentally friendly fuel. And finally, due the signing of agreements with major companies in the logistic and the distribution like Seur (SEUR is one of the major companies in the logistic sector in Spain), MRW, Carrefour and IKEA, in order to develop these sectors to convert more to LP Gas... …Mercedes Benz has transformed its scheme of OEMs (original equipment manufactured) for their 156 hp engine, thanks to all these successful case. |
